Brockholes Nature Reserve Wedding Photography

Sep 24, 2023

From the moment I first read Amy and Stefan’s enquiry, I felt so much excitement for their wedding. We have so much in common, from our love of colour and non-conforming weddings to the fact that we are both doing up houses!

This was my first time photographing a wedding at Brockholes Nature Reserve. I have visited this stunning spot for years and waited patiently for an opportunity to shoot here. The stars really aligned with this one!

Getting Ready

The morning began at Stefan’s parents’ house before I headed over to see Amy at their home. Both of them were so relaxed. I absolutely love what Amy and Stefan have done with their house so far, so I took full advantage of their beautifully decorated rooms when taking photographs. Amy then travelled to the venue in the family campervan and arrived a surpise welcome from her friends.

The Ceremony at Brockholes Nature Reserve

The couple chose a wonderful celebrant wedding which was full of joy and personal touches. I love celebrant weddings because they give photographers so much more freedom than legal ceremonies, although I always stay as discreet as possible.

After the ceremony, we headed outside and had a blast getting everyone onto the jetty for a massive group photo followed by confetti. Amy’s choir gave an incredible performance, and Amy even joined in to sing with them! Once the guests headed inside, I stole Amy and Stefan away for some portraits on the floating jetty.

The speeches at this wedding were legendary. At one point, someone even handed Stefan a poster sized print of himself totally naked! After the food, the three of us went for a walk to capture the beautiful golden hour light.

The Evening

The evening held even more surprises because Amy’s friend performed a dance routine. Amy described her as a dancer with hula hoops and all things glittery, which summed it up perfectly! The guests absolutely loved it. The night finished with lots of dancing, more yummy food, and everyone enjoying those lovely lakeside views.

Amy and Stefan, thank you so much for having me. This was truly one of my favourite weddings ever!
