A DIY Wedding in the Ribble Valley

Jun 10, 2024

This DIY wedding in the Ribble Valley was an absolute dream from start to finish. Alice and Tom live in London but they travelled back to the Ribble Valley to celebrate at the new home of Alice’s parents in Knowle Green.

Alice’s parents have been busy doing up their house, and they have the most incredible big back garden. They hired Ribble Valley Marquees to transform their lawn into a stunning wedding venue, and the team did a spectacular job!

Getting Ready

The morning flew by at the house where Alice got ready with her parents, sister, and bridesmaids. Laughter, plenty of bubbles, and even a full-on dance routine kicked things off! Meanwhile, Tom got ready nearby with his groomsmen before we all headed to St Wilfred’s Church in Ribchester for the ceremony.

The Ceremony

The service felt so personal because the Reverend is a close friend of Alice’s parents and knows the family well. He also kindly invited Tom’s Godmother, who is a celebrant, to share some words about the couple. She told the story of how they met and gave everyone a lovely insight into their relationship. This special touch made the ceremony feel unique to them.

After a massive shower of confetti, Alice, Tom, and I took a short stroll down to the river. This offered the perfect spot for some relaxed portraits before we made our way back to the party. As they arrived at the house, the sound of bagpipes and cheers from their guests welcomed them home.

The Reception

The sun stayed out all afternoon, so everyone enjoyed drinks and canapes at the front of the house before moving into the marquee for the wedding breakfast. The marquee looked absolutely stunning inside! We heard some incredible speeches that had everyone laughing and crying, followed by a relaxed afternoon in the garden.

The Party

Waverley Wedding Band kicked off the evening, and they did an amazing job of keeping the dancefloor busy all night long. We finished the celebrations with a brilliant firework display under the stars. What an amazing day for a truly lovely couple! It was a privilege to capture your wedding photographs and a highlights film.
