Wedding Venues in the Ribble Valley and Lancashire
I realise that, as a wedding photographer who loves photographing countryside weddings, I am totally biased about how amazing this part of the country is. The Ribble Valley and Lancashire play host to a huge amount of amazing venues – you are spoilt for choice! Whether you’re looking for an industrial warehouse or the perfect base for a festival-themed wedding, there is definitely something here for everyone. You don’t have to settle for a generic hotel wedding – think epic views, glamping pods and woodland ceremonies.
These venues are listed here in no particular order (I love them all!) and includes lots of information about each one.
Hobbit Hill
Set in the beautiful Ribble Valley in 150 acres of stunning countryside, this venue is absolute perfection. My favourite part is the beautiful woodland, fitted with benches and festoon lights for a gorgeous wedding ceremony. This is just a stone’s throw away from the main building and the on-site accommodation. The main reception space is a vast barn with exposed wooden beams and panoramic views of the countryside beyond. This is a family-run venue that feels like a home from home and is perfect for a chilled-out, outdoor wedding.

Holmes Mill
If you’re looking for a venue with an industrial vibe, Holmes Mill is the perfect place for you. Built-in 1823, this former textile Mill is set in the heart of Clitheroe. The owners have kept as many original features as possible including the textured walls and rustic wood of the original building and mixed them with Edison lights and metal features to make a beautiful mix of modern and historical design. Thanks to a wall of windows, natural light floods into the room. There’s on-site accommodation, a restaurant, bar, parking and cinema- and it’s also close to Clitheroe station. The bridal suite is one of the most beautiful rooms for prep that I’ve ever worked in. The food here is so yummy, and you can try Boland Brewery Beer in the Beer Hall.

The Wellbeing Farm
Bow-tie-wearing Llamas, donkeys in flat caps, a stunning location and amazing owners and staff- this venue is a real gem of the north. This neglected farm has been lovingly renovated by owner Celia into an amazing space for weddings. The barn was previously used as a horse arena and makes the perfect space for a big, epic party. The Wellbeing Farm aims to have their client’s well-being at the forefront of all they do. They provide a storeroom of brilliant accessories and equipment for you to use and have a vast knowledge of local suppliers and businesses to make your day perfect. There is onsite accommodation for 6 people and plenty of other local accommodations to choose from. If you want a chilled, outdoor wedding with lots of style, this is the perfect place for you.

The Outbarn
Another venue nestled in the gorgeous Ribble Valley, The Outbarn is a lovely mix of ancient and modern with a beautiful modern ceremony room attached to a 17th-century hay barn. This beautiful family-run venue sits in the heart of a private estate with stunning panoramic views. It has a few quirky features too, like a help-yourself beer pump called ‘The Watering Hole.’ In the summer the field in front of the farm blooms with gorgeous yellow. One of my favourite things about this venue is that they seem to be doing all they can to be as eco-friendly as possible, including solar panels and a bio-mass boiler.

Browsholme Hall and Tithe Barn
This beautifully restored barn is the perfect romantic setting for a wedding. The Tithe Barn has kept so many of the original features, such as stone floors, oak beams and exposed walls, making it the perfect historical setting for your day. The barn is decorated with hundreds of low-hanging fairy lights which make the space feel magical. The adjacent courtyard is the perfect space to relax on a summer’s day. There is plenty of seating for your guests and they even have a wood-fired pizza oven. I can smell that lovely pizza smell already! The Tithe Barn has space for up to 120-day guests and 180 evening guests, marking it perfect for those of you wanting a big party.

Bashall Barn
This exclusive wedding venue is set in beautiful rolling countryside. There is a readymade outdoor ceremony area, as well as a beautiful barn with panoramic views. They have a vast wedding store with plenty of items to decorate your day – and they’re ALL FREE. I absolutely love how eco-friendly this is! There is a bedroom barn with three family rooms and three double rooms which are perfect for you and your closest family or friends to stay in. The ceremony room and dining hall are separate spaces too, which means lots of space for your guests throughout the day. In the evening, doors from the dining hall are opened to reveal a private bar for your guests to enjoy.

Wyresdale Park
I don’t know about you, but when a venue has a space called ‘Nicky Nook Fell’, I know I’m going to love it. The first time I photographed here, I couldn’t stop staring at the beautiful spaces. It definitely feels like you would expect a British farm to, but also feels a bit like an Italian Vineyard. It is absolutely stunning. The staff are amazing, and honestly, I would get married here in a heartbeat. There are plenty of different spaces for you and your guests to relax and enjoy. There is also a lake (with a rowing boat!) which is a gorgeous place for the two of you to take a quiet little walk. There is plenty of onsite accommodation – including a glamping site – so your guests can party the night away, knowing a comfy bed isn’t far away.

Rivington Hall Barn
If you’re looking for a historic venue, I’m not sure you can get much older than this. Rivington Hall Barn is Grade II listed and had original Saxon beams set! If you hadn’t guessed, Rivington Hall Barn is in Rivington, which is close to both Chorley and Bolton. This venue doesn’t need a lot of decoration to look amazing, because the bare bones of the place are epic enough as they are. The barn is a big space with plenty of room for larger weddings. There is tons of outdoor space with lots of countryside to enjoy and a terrace with plenty of seating (perfect for alfresco drinks and garden games!). There is lots of accommodation available locally too.

Eaves Hall
Eaves Hall is another venue set in the Ribble Valley, close to Clitheroe. This venue has a bit of everything – plenty of outdoor space, beautiful Georgian-style rooms, and plenty of accommodation. Although it is a fine country house, it does have a really relaxed feel to it, which makes everyone feel at home. The outdoor space is perfect for ceremonies, though there are also rooms to choose from inside. The bridal suite has the most amazing balcony, with views across the grounds. Most of all though, the staff at Eaves Hall are some of the loveliest I have ever come across. I honestly don’t think anything would be too much trouble for them.

The Tipis at Riley Green
I fell in love with this venue from the moment I arrived. This family-run venue is set in a field adjacent to the canal (you can even arrive by canal boat!) and feels so secluded and private. The venue is the tipi – so no need to arrange to hire and put up one with a separate company. The tipi is enormous with plenty of room for your guests, even if the weather means people want to stay inside. The Tipis at Riley Green are straight off the M61, making it a really easy venue to get to, yet you would never know you were so close to the motorway. The Tipis at Riley Green are open for weddings from April to October and are well worth a visit if you are planning a spring or summer wedding.

There is a choice of using the on-site marquee, the dining room or the church next door, St Michaels, for the ceremony. These choices make the venue really unique. Many venues describe themselves as ‘rustic’, but River Barns really is everything I imagine rustic to describe. The barn contains the most beautiful wood beams which form the most lovely backdrop for a wedding. Samlesbury Hall
amlesbury Hall is a Tudor masterpiece and just looks like Henry VIII is going to walk into the room at any moment. It does actually date back before the Tudors, but the white and black exterior was added in the 16th century. It’s run by a charity after it was lovingly rescued and restored by local people about 50 years ago. The team at Samlesbury are highly dedicated and flexible, aiming to make each couple’s day unique. The other is that there are 27 shepherd’s huts on site, which make perfect accommodation.
