I love a little road trip and exploring new places and with this wedding, I got to do both! A very lovely bridesmaid from a previous wedding I photographed, Hannah, recommended me to her friend Jenn who was getting married. Hannah said to me ‘I recommended you because I’ve never had another photographer capture me in such a beautiful way as you did!’. This is the biggest compliment ever and something I hope all my clients feel.
Jenn and Kurt booked me to be their Plas Dinam Country House Wedding photographer which is such an honour. Plas Dinam is located in Llandinam, Powys, Wales (it’s East Wales towards the border with England). It is a private, family-run venue with accommodation for 36 across 15 bedrooms. It is grand and beautiful and yet somehow also feels like a cozy home from home. Plas Dinam has a large drawing room wiith space for your ceremony but also hosts outdoor ceremonies.. The views from here of the surrounding countryside are breathtaking – this is one of the most beautiful venues I’ve ever worked at. Plas Dinam is self-catering in the house so you can provide your own food for the duration of your stay and drinks with no corkage, which is an extra bonus.
Jenn and Kurt had their close family and friends with them at Plas Dinam Country House for the weekend. They enjoyed a meal together the night before and then there was plenty of room to get ready in different parts of the house. They then headed for the ceremony in the drawing room. They had a string quartet which included one of Jenn’s cousins which was a really personal touch. We then headed out for the confetti before they enjoyed drinks and canapes with their guests on the lawn. The sun was shining and it felt like a summer day, though it was October! After they had had plenty of time to mingle and enjoy their wedding, we whizzed through some group photos and portraits. My favourite location for the portraits was the greenhouse which is at the back of the stable where the rest of the wedding was. The light and colours in here were beautiful. They had some gorgeous sharing platters which looked mouth-wateringly good. The speeches were brilliant with an extra special speech from the bridesmaids done in the style of court-room drama.
The dance floor at this wedding was next level! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many guests get up and dance with so much passion! I think it helped that every guest had chosen a song on their invite but also just the whole vibe of the day was so fun and relaxed that it was only natural that there were no inhibitions on the dancefloor.
