Wahoo! This gorgeous DIY Lake District wedding offered the perfect medley of countryside and boho vibes with a Rwandan twist. I absolutely loved photographing Helena and Fidele’s wedding on their Uncle’s land in a small village near Ambleside. The couple executed the colourful boho style so beautifully!
A Personal Ceremony in the Heart of the Lakes
Helena and Fidele planned a really relaxed day where family and friends could celebrate with them in one of their favourite places. A friend of the family acted as celebrant for their lovely ceremony, which made the whole service feel incredibly intimate. Immediately after the “I dos,” everyone sang Helena’s favourite song, ‘Flying without Wings,’ while thousands of bubbles floated through the sky. I loved witnessing such a magical moment!
Colourful Boho Vibes and Rwandan Traditions
The couple executed the colourful boho vibe perfectly throughout the day. The guests acted as the real gem at this wedding; each and every person arrived with buckets of love, fun, and enthusiasm. This energy created an amazing atmosphere that lasted from the first drink until the last dance. The celebration became a total whirlwind of Rwandan dancing, the conga, cocktails, and amazing food.
Portraits with a View
Before the speeches began, I sneaked the couple off to get some photographs in front of the amazing views just outside the village. The Lake District backdrop never fails to deliver! It gave Helena and Fidele a quiet moment to soak in the fact that they finally tied the knot.
A Celebration Full of Joy
The fun and laughter at this wedding made the day an absolute joy to document. I literally didn’t want to go home! Once again, I swear I have the BEST job in the world.
