A SWAN HOTEL NEWBY BRIDGE WINDERMERE WEDDING

Jun 30, 2019

IF YOU’RE PLANNING A SWAN HOTEL NEWBY BRIDGE WINDERMERE WEDDING, YOU’LL LOVE THIS WEDDING FOR INSPIRATION!

Donna first got in touch with me straight after James had proposed – she was just so excited! They were planning a destination wedding in the UK so they got to have a bit of a holiday with their family and friends – that way they could have a few extra guests for the evening too (unlike if they had gone to Greece…). They chose the absolutely beautiful Swan Hotel Newby Bridge Windermere. The plan was to make a real weekend of it with plans for the days after the wedding too.

GETTING READY

The Swan Hotel has the most beautiful bridal suite. There is plenty of space and so much colour and texture – it is a joy to photograph in. Donna was just SO EXCITED  and kept saying ‘I can’t believe it’s today!’. On a side note, keep a lookout for the way Donna looks at James in the photos – she looks so happy! My second shooter Kirsten headed to James’ room and got some shots of the boys getting ready too.

THE CEREMONY AT THE SWAN HOTEL NEWBY BRIDGE

The ceremony room is beautiful, bright and perfect for a wedding. There were lots of readings by friends and family, creating a gorgeous and personal ceremony. Afterwards, they headed straight out into a shower of confetti and had a few minutes to chill and say ‘hello’ to their guests before the next instalment…

THE RECEPTION

The reception at this wedding was somewhat different to other weddings. To add to the feeling of being on holiday, the guests were taken on a ride on a vintage bus. The amazing duo ’24 Live’ (Brett & Andrew) serenaded the guests whilst balancing on the staircase of a moving bus – and they had the whole bus singing along with them. The bus stopped at the shore of Lake Windermere where they were then treated to champagne… on a boat cruise! ’24 Live’ continued to serenade everyone and it there was an epic party atmosphere. We headed back on the bus afterwards and enjoyed more music in the gardens of The Swan Inn, Newby Bridge. Donna, James and their guests danced on the lawn and enjoyed drinks in the summer sunshine. I need to mention at this point that the speeches were absolutely incredible. The best man and ushers had hired a videographer and visited the Swan Inn a few weeks before the wedding. They then filmed what can only be described as their own version of ‘The Hangover’ set the night before the wedding and based around a missing wedding groom. They left the room and the film started to roll as if following them live on their adventure ‘to find the groom’. Absolutely 10/10 for effort, execution and lols.

THE EVENING

‘Live 24’ set up to DJ in the evening and there was lots of dancing! There was also a poker table and other entertainment for the guests. We headed outside to grab a few sparkler shots at dusk, and it was the perfect end to a fantastic day.
