I have been SO excited for The Harris in Preston to re-open following extensive refurbishment. It has been closed for the three years (the whole time we have lived in Preston) and finally it has opened it’s doors once more.
The Harris was gifted to the city from lawyer Edmund Robert Harris in 1877 and houses a library, museum, and art gallery. It is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture with columns decorating the outside and a three-story circular balcony in the main hall
Most importantly though – weddings will be happening here soon! I would absolutely love to photograph a wedding at The Harris so please do get in touch if you are planning one.
I took my daughter and mother-in-law to the opening event on Saturday 4th October. We spent most of our time in the Wallace and Grommit exhibition and art galleries. My daughter and I absokutely love art galleries so it’s lovely to have one open in the city centre. We used to go to Leeds Art Gallery a lot when we lived in Yorkshire. We enjoyed sketching the art and getting lost in the paintings.
We loved the Wallace and Gromit exhibition. Nick Park lost many of his original sets in a fire, so it is comprised of his most recent film sets. When we lived in Bradford, we used to visit The Science and Media Museum, where one of the original sets was preserved by being on exhibit at the time of the fire. It was lovely to see more sets. It really is magical!
Anyway, here are some photographs from our visit and I am looking forward to heading there again soon.
