Old Palace Chester Wedding

IF YOU’RE PLANNING A WEDDING AT OLD PALACE IN CHESTER, YOU’LL LOVE THIS WEDDING FOR INSPIRATION!

Emma and Greg got married at Old Palace Chester, which is a gorgeous mansion right in the heart of Chester. It was a gorgeous day and the sun shone all day long (which was great relief after the snow, hail, rain and strong winds the day before!). This Old Palace Chester wedding was such a special day as after several postponement due to covid and over a thousand days after getting engaged, Emma and Greg finally got their day.

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony was a gorgeous service in a beautiful room. There was a little hiccough with the music which meant Greg was left waiting in the ceremony room and Emma was waiting outside. It just made Emma’s entrance all the more special. The ceremony went swimmingly and the couple both had huge smiles on their faces as they said their vows.

They headed straight out of the ceremony and their guests gathered on the lawn. As the couple came out of the grand Old Palace double doors their guests all cheered and blew bubbles on them. It was lots of fun. This was followed by lots of drinks and canapes.

THE AFTERNOON

The reception was in a beautiful room at Old Palace with beautiful views out over the gardens. I love this venue because the light is gorgeous for portraits and candids. Weddings at Old Palace are amazing because the location is right on the river too. They had a beautiful meal followed by some brilliant speeches. Emma’s mum was ready with the tissues when her Dad got a bit teary.

In the evening they had a live band, H2H, who were fab! The first dance was to ‘At Last’ by Etta James which was very fitting after they’re wedding was postponed for 18 months due to covid. They finished off the evening with pizza from the outdoor pizza oven.

THE COUPLE

Emma wore a lacy dress and Greg wore a stunning trouser suit and they looked really perfect.

The couple got in touch with me years ago and their enquiry was really nice. They said they loved the photos I took at their friend’s wedding (where Greg was bestman!) and I loved that they really wanted a relaxed day.

WHY OLD PALACE IS A GREAT PLACE TO GET MARRIED

Old Palace is really peaceful and secluded yet is right in the heart of Chester. The venue offers an onsite hotel so guests don’t have to travel home – and there are loads of amazing places that are perfect for photos.

ADVICE FOR PLANNING YOUR WEDDING AT OLD PALACE

Make sure you head down to the river for a little walk – it is so beautiful! Also, the bridal sweet is the most amazing hotel room I’ve ever seen  (and I’ve seen a lot!) and you will definitely feel like royalty if you stay in it.
