Becky and Fraser travelled from London to get married in the absolutely stunning village of Downham in Lancashire. It’s the village near where Becky grew up, which made it extra special. Downham is easily one of the most picturesque spots in the Ribble Valley. Visiting Downham feels like stepping back in time because there are no overhead wires or road signs.
Gettin Ready in Downham Village
The morning started at the Assheton Arms, which is tucked right in the heart of the village. Becky got ready in one of the holiday cottages and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy. Just across the way, Fraser was getting ready at the inn with his groomsmen.
Once the groom and groomsmen were ready, they all headed outside to the front of the pub to have drinks with the guests in the sun. Fraser’s Grandad absolutely stole the show here, looking incredibly dapper in an original 1930s top hat!
The Wedding Ceremony in Downham Village
After a lovely ceremony at St Leonard’s Church, we headed outside for lots of confetti. Once we finished up a few group photos, the guests made their way up to the hall. Becky, Fraser, and their gorgeous pooch Daisy stayed behind so we could have a quiet wander through the village. We got some portraits of the three of them together as we walked up to the reception. I really enjoyed finding little spots to use in the village.
The Wedding Reception at Downham Village Hall
Downham Village Hall looked incredible! The long tables and flower decorations looked great. Outside, there was live music playing and it didn’t take long before it turned into a full-on sing-along in the sunshine.
The speeches were fabulous, especially the one from Fraser’s Grandad—top hat and all! But the real energy came during the party. The dancing at this wedding was honestly next level. I loved photographing Becky and Fraser being lifted onto the shoulders of their friends and family in the middle of the dancefloor. It was such a high-energy, joyful way to end the perfect day.
Becky and Fraser, thank you so much for having me along. I loved every second of your Downham village wedding!
