Bert’s Barrow Wedding Photography

Jun 2, 2025

I felt so happy when Esther and Lucy asked me to photograph their wedding. I have met Esther a few times before because I photographed her cousin’s wedding in 2022 and one of her best friends’ weddings in 2024, so it felt like a lovely reunion! These two planned a day that matched my vibe perfectly—a relaxed, fun wedding at Bert’s Barrow. A Relaxed Yorkshire Farm Wedding. I really enjoyed capturing Esther and Lucy’s Berts Barrow wedding photography for them.

Getting Ready at Mackinder Farms

The morning began at Mackinder Farms where both brides prepared in separate spots. Esther spent the morning with her favourite people in one of the cottages. When I arrived, she wore a Shrek headband, which immediately set a fun and relaxed tone for the rest of the day!

Lucy got ready with her mum and friends in one of the lodges. Although she felt a little nervous, her best friend did an amazing job of keeping her laughing. Once they both finished their final touches, they met at their vintage bus for a “first look.” This private moment allowed them to soak everything in before the whirlwind began.

A Personal Ceremony at Bert’s Barrow

The brides travelled to the venue on the vintage bus with their closest family and friends. They skipped the traditional walk down the aisle and instead entered their ceremony through a unique archway that their guests created with their hands! This was quite the squeeze at some points but lots of fun!

Esther’s brothers officiated the service, which made the whole experience feel incredibly personal. They included beautiful readings and prayers before a meaningful handfasting ceremony. Each of their closest family members and friends took turns tying a ribbon.. A huge shower of confetti signaled the end of the ceremony and the start of the reception.

Relaxed Reception Vibes and Ice Cream

The reception at Bert’s Barrow felt super chilled. Guests enjoyed drinks, garden games, and delicious grazing tables inside the rustic barn. An ice cream van arrived later in the afternoon and quickly became a massive hit with everyone!

The lovely owner of Bert’s Barrow, Charlotte, drove us up to the top field. This gave Esther and Lucy a well-deserved breather and allowed us to capture some beautiful portraits away from the bustle of the party.

Cat Cut-outs and Heartfelt Speeches

Lucy and Esther decided they would be the only people giving speeches. Their heartfelt words included plenty of mentions of their beloved cats! Even though the cats could not attend in person, they still made an appearance on the dancefloor as large cardboard cut-outs too! Motif did an amazing job of keeping the dancefloor full.

Thank you so much, Esther and Lucy, for letting me document your brilliant day. I loved every second of it!
