I thoroughly enjoyed being the photographer for this winter wedding in Yorkshire on Christmas eve eve. I’ve met the couple at a few other weddings that I’ve photographed for their friends, so it was lovely to be welcomed back and see so many familiar faces.
The bridal prep was very chilled and laid back. Claire got ready with her three bridesmaids and the whole morning ran really smoothly. Her parents arrived just before she got in her dress, and her Dad was absolutely speechless when he saw her for the first time. It was a really lovely moment.
Paul and Claire are part of the Salvation Army and so had their ceremony at their Church in Morley, Leeds. This building looks so cute and small on the outside but it is a tardiss – the inside is enormous! Claire walked down the aisle to ‘I can’t help falling in love with you’ which is one of my favourites. After the ceremony we headed to a park nearby to grab some portraits before heading up to the Bridge inn in Wetherby for the reception.
Being December and England, the rain of course poured but these two just embraced it and it didn’t matter in the slightest. We managed to get some lovely photos of the two of them in the rain in the evening too. I used off-camera flash for these. It’s always useful to have kit ready in the bag to get creative in different conditions.
The speeches were fab, moves were thrown on the dance floor and all in all it was a great day to be a part of. If you’re planning a winter wedding in Yorkshire I’d love to hear from you.
