Wahoo! Bonita and Tony’s wedding felt like such a full-circle moment. These two met while studying at Keele University, so they decided to head back to where it all began to tie the knot. Because they lived on campus during their degrees, they were able to marry at the beautiful Church of England chapel right in the heart of the grounds.
Getting Ready at Courtyard by Marriott
Both Bonita and Tony got ready at the Courtyard by Marriott Keele Alumni Academy, which sits right on the university campus. I loved being able to pop between them both to capture those nervous and excited morning moments! After they finished their preparations, we headed over to the University Chapel for the ceremony. The minister was one of the most relaxed vicars I have ever met, which made the service feel so calm and joyful.
A Sunny Stop at Trentham Gardens
Since it was a scorching day, we decided to stop off at Trentham Gardens for a few photographs. This beauty spot offers such incredible backdrops, but we quickly realized we were all far too hot in the summer sun! We decided to cut the session short and head to the reception to get everyone some much-needed cold drinks.
Riverside Celebrations at The Mill at Stone
The rest of the guests were waiting for us at The Mill at Stone, a gorgeous former corn mill with so much character. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon drinks reception with yummy canapes in the sunshine. The couple even treated me to my own dedicated gluten-free canape selection, which was such a thoughtful (and delicious!) surprise.
After we finished a few group photographs, everyone moved inside for a fantastic meal and some truly heartfelt speeches. Once the sun began to dip, I used the opportunity to get into the river to cool down! Standing in the water gave me the perfect angle to photograph the couple on the iconic bridge while they enjoyed a quiet moment together.
Limbo and Dancing
The night finished with some of the most competitive rounds of limbo I have ever seen! Everyone hit the dancefloor with so much energy, making it the perfect end to a brilliant day.
Bonita and Tony, thank you so much for having me along. I loved exploring your old university haunts with you!
